The Gospel reading for this Sunday is Matthew 16:21-28
Having acknowledged the truth of Peter’s declaration, Jesus tells his friends what kind of king he will be: one that suffers. And he tells them that they too will suffer if they come after him; it is the only way to find the life they seek.
This week we are asked to face the scariness of letting Jesus take control of our lives. Alone it would be impossible, but with Jesus leading, and our fellow Christians around us, we are encouraged to set out prepared to meet the dangers that being true to Jesus will involve. (copyright@Roots)
