Sunday 11th February

Dear Beloved of St. Nick’s Kingsway,

As we navigate the undulating landscapes of our lives, akin to the disciples’ trek up the mountain with Jesus, this week’s Gospel reading (Mark 9:2-9) invites us to a moment of divine revelation. Just as Peter, James, and John witnessed Jesus’ transfiguration, we too are called to recognize the extraordinary amidst the ordinary.

In a world where the only constant seems to be change (and perhaps our ever-optimistic weather forecasts), this passage encourages us to find our mountaintop moments, even if they’re more like gently rolling hills in our local park. Let’s be honest, finding divine revelation in the midst of trying to decipher the latest government guidelines could be considered a modern-day miracle!

May this week inspire us to see the light of Christ in all we encounter, from the sacred to the seemingly mundane, and may our journey together be filled with moments of unexpected awe and perhaps a few less bewildering Zoom calls.

With warmest regards and a sprinkle of heavenly humour,

Augustine
